Free Friday Fiesta - August 8
On the 2nd Friday of each month - it is a Fiesta!
The second Friday of each month is Fiesta time! Fiesta nights include social competitive tennis, fun tennis games, instruction to both adults and juniors, and food & beverages. It's a great way to spend a Friday with your tennis friends, or to meet some new ones. This event is open to members and non-members, so feel free to invite anyone you like, even if they're not a tennis player, yet. We have instructional courts for the newbies, and a court for kids. Please call ahead to reserve your spot. For more information see the Free Friday Fiesta Flyer.

Summer Junior Camps
All day tennis & sports camps are a SMASH!
For the first time ever we offered all day, week long camps that include tennis and other activities. The main focus is on-court tennis instruction and play, but kids also have the opportunity to participate in other physical activities such as basketball, soccer, racquetball, & squash. We have partnered with our neighbor, Driscoll Fitness Center to provide the non-tennis activities. Amazingly, already, there are only a couple of weeks left to participate! For more information view Summer Camp Flyer. Once camps end our fun after-school and weekend programs will be starting, such as Junior Strokes and the Junior Singles League (information coming soon)!

Shellaberger Welcomes New Pro!
Stephen Dial joins the Shellaberger staff.
We are very happy to welcome our newest member of the Shellaberger team, Stephen Dial. Stephen comes to Shellaberger from Boise, Idaho where for the last 15 years has been teaching experience at the biggest and best clubs in that region. “Tennis is a lifelong passion of mine and through my teaching I hope to share with students the life lessons and personal growth one can achieve through the sport of tennis. Moving to Santa Fe is an exciting adventure that myself, my fiancé, and our two cats are looking forward to!”, says Stephen. In addition to teaching Stephen will be bringing a great deal of managerial experience as well, and we are happy that Stephen will be a big part of our team heading up some of our most popular programs such as Top Dog Doubles, Anytime Singles, and new ones to come!

Whether you're new or renewed, this is for you.
Tennis "Fun"damentals, our Beginner - Intermediate tennis course has introduced new people to the great game of tennis, and has gotten people that used to play back on the court. Current member and last month's member of the month, John Vokoun is one success story. John used Tennis "Fun"damentals to start playing again after a 15 year break and is now a competitive 3.5 player. For more information see the Tennis “Fun”damentals flyer. Michael “Nostradamis” Adee
Another Wimbledon Champion!
In our first ever “Wimbledon Draw Challenge” Michael Adee got the highest score, followed by Kien-Yin Lee & Sally Wright who came in a two way tie for second place. Michael was able to predict all of the finalists and the Lady’s Champion. If either Petra Kvitova or Novak Djokavic happen to be reading our website (ha ha), a big congratulations from the STC goes out to you as well! Both champions put on an incredible performance. Because of Michael’s prognosticating skills he is invited to attend a Sunday Social or the US Open Social for FREE. Keep your eyes open for the chance to compete against other club members in choosing who will fair the best at the 2014 US Open!

Congratulations to Our 3.5 Women's Team!
Good practices & having fun - recipe for success.
The Shellaberger 3.5 Women's 18+over team had a great spring season, coming in second place in their division with a 6-2 record....qualifying for the Northern New Mexico District play-offs where they had a great time albeit not coming out on top… this time. Michele Plourde, the team captain, attributes their success to the great attitude and commitment of the 10 women on her team. They practice every week with their coach Ralph Bolton who has helped them improve in all aspects of their game. All of us here at the club are excited that the team has done so well this year!
Former STC Patron Beat Federer
Congratulations to former STC regular Andre Begemann!
Andre Begemann, who was a stand-out player for the College of Santa Fe's Spin tennis team recently took home the doubles title at the Gerry Weber open in Halle, Germany. He partnered with Julian Knowle to defeat the great Roger Federer and Marco Chiudinelli in a 3-set final. Andre, who played out of Shellaberger for 2 years while in college, is currently ranked 47 in the world in doubles.
